Salvo Precision MWS Spear LT CSAW 5.56 GBB Airsoft - 10.5 inch (G104-3B, No Marking) - Black

The SCX Spear LT CSAW, a member of their inaugural GBB rifle from Salvo Precision, is a portable, short stroked system of their SCX GBB line, updated to the Gen 2 system that features substantial enhancements aimed at improving durability, reliability, and overall performance. The first batch of this particular rifle has gained significant traction in the airsoft community, attributed to its impressive performance during skirmishes and its lineage from real steel counterparts.

Equipped with a short-stroked gas piston system, the SCX serves as a versatile modular rifle platform that can be swiftly reconfigured to accommodate various operational needs, including a convenient calibre conversion from 5.56mm to .300BLK to 7.62mm. The various generations and configurations of the SCX have been employed by law enforcement and esteemed specialised units globally, including the British SAS, CTSFO, US JSOC, Dutch DSI and more, making it a highly sought after system among both real steel and airsoft enthusiasts. The Close Support Assault Weapon configuration is a specialised variant designed for USSOCOM operators. The first images of this weapon were captured in 2023, showcasing its use by a US CAG operator in Israel. Notable features include a shortened handguard and barrel, reminiscent of the SCX, as well as the distinctive SLX556C suppressor, which has gained popularity among enthusiasts of the CAG operator aesthetic.

Salvo Precision introduces the SCX to the airsoft market as a short-stroked GBB rifle, maintaining the same modular adaptability as its real steel counterpart. It boasts quality performance and build integrity, featuring an aluminium exterior for a robust yet lightweight design, complemented by steel-reinforced internals to enhance the rifle's durability. The SCX line is based on the renowned Tokyo Marui MWS ZET GBB system, with internal components fortified with steel to ensure performance meets expectations. As a true 1:1 replica of the ZET system, most of its components are interchangeable with aftermarket Marui spec MWS GBB parts, allowing shooters to customise their rifles extensively.

The CSAW variant comes with its modular 10.5-inch Gen 3 handguard, with M-LOK and skeletal lightening cuts to minimise the weight of the handguard and provides the ability to install various peripheral devices and furniture to suit the shooters needs, along with a monolithic Picatinny upper to mount optics onto this rifle. At its front is a tapered QD three pronged Taper-Lok flash hider that allows convenient mounting and removal of suppressor units, with the ability to remove the flash hider to install other 14mm CCW muzzle devices or tracer units to suit the shooters needs. As a CSAW, the receiver features an almost fully ambidextrous fire control system, with the ability to seamlessly use the primary controls your main or off hand, able to change the fire selector, mag release and charging handle with either hands, a convenient solution to quick transition the rifle at a moments notice, while the bolt release still requires the traditional approach of pressing the bolt release on the left. The receiver features a flared mag well for convenient reloads of any MWS spec. GBB magazine, along with an ambi QD mounting point found at the rear of the receiver, allowing the mounting of QD slings. The rear of the rifle features a Picatinny stock rail interface, providing the shooters to easily swap any Picatinny stocks that suit their shooting configuration. In this instance, Salvo includes a minimalistic folding stock, which boasts an integrated rubberised buttpad, enhancing shooter comfort and improving recoil absorption. Its low-profile design optimises compatibility with lower-profile optics, further enhancing shooting comfort. Additionally, the stock is fitted with a rear ambidextrous QD sling point, facilitating the direct attachment of a two-point sling. The hinge mechanism allows for height adjustment to accommodate the shooter?s preferences, and it can be folded for compact storage during transport or for improved control in confined spaces, with the option to fold either to the right or left when collapsed.

At its heart, the rifle features the short-stroked SCX bolt system. This system incorporates a compact bolt with a guided track, enhanced by springs and rollers, allowing for a quick and smooth bolt cycle. Consequently, this design facilitates the attachment of Picatinny-based stocks, leading to a shorter yet adequate recoil experience when firing the SCX. The SCX line features an integrated hop-up base with the outer barrel, ensuring minimal wobble of the hop-up rubber and inner barrel set for consistent accuracy. It also includes an adjustable hop dial that provides tactile feedback during adjustments. As the Spear LT variant, it boasts a fully ambidextrous trigger box, with commonly worn components reinforced with steel to ensure an extended lifespan. The rifle offers safe, semi, and auto fire modes on a curved trigger, delivering an enjoyable shooting experience with its short wall break and quick reset.

Salvo Precision dedicates its efforts to listening to customer feedback to continually enhance product quality. In this instance, they have addressed the concerns raised regarding their first generation rifles and implemented improvements in the SCX Gen 2 line. The Gen 2 now features a reciprocating spring buffer pad in its lower receiver for better recoil absorption and bolt travel, alongside a revised barrel clamp design to rectify barrel wobble and accuracy issues. They recommend applying blue loctite to the barrel clamp screws during reassembly if the rifle is disassembled. The hop-up chamber base mount structure has also been redesigned for a more stable and secure assembly of the outer barrel and hop-up. Salvo advises verifying the two top bolt screws for security after every few games (or after each game) to prevent damage to the bolt, and suggests applying blue loctite to these screws for better security. Additionally, for those using Tokyo Marui MWS STANAG GBB magazines, Salvo recommends swapping either the feed lips of the magazine or the SCX nozzle to Guns Modify for consistent feeding and reduced risk of damage.
