EMG Daniel Defense M4A1 RIS II GBB Airsoft Rifle (BK/FDE, by Double Eagle)

The M4A1 is a compact airsoft rifle featuring a 14.5-inch barrel, representing a modern evolution of the SOPMOD Block II concept for the M4A1 carbine, originally developed for the USSOCOM operators for a more standardised, modular system, rather than the continued usage of "duct tape and hose clamp" era of the 70s and 80s. This variant is a collaboration between Double Eagle and Daniel Defense, licensed by EMG, with Double Eagle meticulously crafting the rifle from precision-machined aluminium and reinforced QPQ steel components, delivering a high-quality GBB rifle to the airsoft community.

Recognising that traditional M4 carbines and M16 rifles gradually customised to fit specific mission requirements, the NSWC-Crane Division initiated the development of the Special Operations Peculiar MODification (SOPMOD) program, an accessory package that suits various USSOCOM operators needs to tailor their rifle platform to meet with their mission requirement. In this particular instance, at the bequest of USSOCOM, Daniel Defense was tasked with developing a modular quad Picatinny rail handguard that can meet the requirements and needs of the SOPMOD Block II program, with the added addition of being able to mount the M203 directly into the handguard and to be used in conjunction with the Mk 12 low profile gas block system.

Double Eagle faithfully replicates the M4A1 using precision-machined aluminium and reinforced QPQ steel internals, ensuring an authentic experience for owners of this DD M4 rifle. The rifle features licensed trademarks, rollmarks, and licensing for the Daniel Defense civilian-marketed M4A1 rifle, equipped with a 14mm CCW outer barrel paired with a birdcage flash hider, along with a DD-licensed RIS II handguard, pistol grip, and collapsible buttstock. The signature grip and buttstock from Daniel Defense provide a rubberised surface texture, enhancing grip placement and ergonomic control during use.

At its core, the rifle incorporates the renowned Marui MWS system for the M4A1's internals, selecting a quality system celebrated for its exceptional performance, reliability, and gas efficiency, further enhanced with reinforced components to improve durability. Steel parts, including the bolt-locking plate and internal trigger mechanism components, are integrated to extend the rifle's performance and structural integrity. Double Eagle's decision to replicate the esteemed MWS system while enhancing its components is an innovative solution that benefits players seeking durability and outstanding performance in the field, featuring fully functional, manipulable fire controls for right-handed shooters to switch between Safe-Semi-Auto fire modes, along with engaging the charging handle, bolt release, and magazine release, ensuring accessibility to fire controls during intense firefights.

Our assessment indicates it achieves accurate groupings at 30 metres, thanks to an audible and tactile easy-to-adjust MWS hop-up wheel that negates the need for aftermarket upgrades. In the field, its responsive controls enhance performance during intense firefights, featuring a crisp trigger and short travel for rapid, accurate shots. The smooth ambidextrous fire selector, bolt release, and enlarged magazine well facilitate quick control changes and effortless magazine swaps.
