SVD Dragunov is a designated marksmans rifle, mostly mistaken for a regular sniper rifle. It is intended to be carried by a member of an infantry squad and used to provide accurate fire to as far as 800 meters. Anyone familiar with the Great Patriotic War accounts cannot help but note the emphasis given to sniping by the Soviet army. Post-war, that emphasis remained undiminished, and to carry out the sniping role, the Soviets developed what is widely regarded as one of the best contemporary sniper rifles. This is the SVD, sometimes known as the Dragunov. The Dragunov, when it came in, was the only Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) at the time. Since then, it has become a widespread concept, with most modern armies fielding a DMR. For example, the US Army with the KAC M110/SR-25 and the German Bundeswehr with the PSG-1 (a modified version of the H&K G3 battle rifle). The SVD rifle was superb in its design. It was operated like an overgrown AK-47 (though mechanically, it has almost nothing to do with it).
The Real Sword SVD replica sports a Steel CNC-milled receiver, outer barrel, rear sight, and muzzle device, using high-quality real wood for the stock and the hand guard. Built to 1:1 specification to the real SVD, at exactly 1225mm in length, the RS SVD looks and feels almost exactly the same as the real steel SVD rifle, even with all the original details and markings. Featuring an extremely long inner barrel and a super high-capacity cylinder, the RS SVD is capable of shooting at extremely long ranges, with great accuracy. Each magazine holds up to 96 rounds of 6mm BBs, also constructed entirely of steel (1x 96rds Steel Mag Included). 7.4V 1200mAh Stick-type Lipo battery (sold separately) is stored in the spine of the receiver.
