The Colt M1877 was designed by William Manson, one of the inventors of the legendary Colt Single Action Army revolver, and was Colt's first attempt at manufacturing a double-action revolver. The Colt M1877 was made in different lengths and chambered in different calibers, This particular Hartford model gun is based on the "Lighting" model, which is chambered in .38 Long Colt, this model is also famously owned by a Victorian detective and head of the CID, Jerome Caminada of Manchester, England who was also known as Manchester's Sherlock Holmes.
