The airsoft Luger is a replica of the full-metal construction Luger P08 pistol used by the Imperial German Army from 1908 to 1949. The Luger P08 handgun is a recoil-operated, toggle-locked semi-automatic pistol produced by several different countries from 1898 to 1949. Designed by Georg Johann Luger in Austria (who also designed the 9x19mm Parabellum cartridge), the Luger P08 saw combat as a primary sidearm from World War I to Weimar Germany and World War II. The Walther P38 would go on to replace the Luger.

Many airsoft players rely on a Luger P08 as their primary sidearm to accompany a sniper rifle. However, these versatile pistols can also back up a sub-machine gun (SMG), grenade launcher, or airsoft AEG.
