In 1991, Marui released the world's first AEG (Automatic Electric Gun) in the form of the FA-MAS F1. This event marked a new dawn for hobbyists as the Japanese manufacturer moved away from traditional toys and dove into firearm replicas. Thus, an entirely new industry was created, and Marui has never looked back ever since. Three decades of innovation later, another milestone has been achieved with a brand-new category of airsoft rifle, whose sophistication exceeds even Marui?s top-of-the-line ?Next Generation Recoil Shock? series. This new series has been unveiled during the Tokyo Marui Festival 2025, which had copious amounts of new releases such as Hi-Capa 4.3 DOR, M1851 Silver, and more.

A ground-breaking advancement in electric Airsoft technology, the EVOLT series addresses the needs of the most demanding of players with an all-around premium experience. The Tokyo Marui Evolt M4 features the M-SYSTEM type 2 chip, an evolution from the "Next Generation" MP5 series that enables reliability, realism, and exceptional performance has been refined down to the most minute capabilities. The new V7.0 chip includes 6 sensors that not only ensure perfect rifle performance but also can detect potential malfunctions and override to stop operation by itself if failure to operate is detected.

Both the upper and lower receivers are made using full aluminum die-cast materials, allowing for a realistic weight and feel. It sports the exact same frame thickness as the real steel M4A1 Carbine. The buffer tube is also fully machined from aluminum and is a near exact spec as the real steel buffer tube assembly. In order to improve the grip, Marui has chosen reinforced resin as its new material (used in the latest models such as the P320 or SSG553+), making it extremely sturdy and durable. Unlike the rest of the main body, it's been kept unpainted to match the real steel finish.

Unlike other AEG models, which share a common gearbox design across different platforms, the EVOLT series introduces a dedicated gearbox that is highly innovative, with the aim of revolutionizing the future of AEG capabilities. The gearbox design is not split into two distinct parts, with the cylinder fully integrated and captured within the upper receiver. Particular attention has been paid to keep the aesthetics clean and sleek, with almost no protruding elements after takedown. As a first for Tokyo Marui M4 rifles, an ambidextrous selector has been adopted, and a great deal of work has been done on it to ensure smooth operation with tactile clicks when flipping the switch. A stabilizer nozzle has been designed and developed to ensure constant tension. With previous designs, tension was contingent on the spring in the magazine, as it would change depending on the number of BBs left in the channel. This affected accuracy, but with the new nozzle design, it is guaranteed that every shot will be consistent. It may be overly designed, but the performance and consistency speak volumes.

In addition to the whole build, a new motor, the EG-1000 BR (Bearing Reversed), has been designed for used specifically for the new EVOLT system. Providing an ultra crisp response and blazing fast cyclic rate. Its high torque and fast revolution allow the EVOLT system to really shine and are considered essential to the EVOLT concept. As with a new system, the EVOLT series uses a newly developed magazine design that, unlike other standard AEG magazines, uses a shutter system that ensures BBs are fed in the chamber one by one, ensuring that there is no spill, no clogging, and no functional issues. Pretty cool.
