NORTHEAST FAMAS F1

Ordered and commissioned by the French Army back in the 1970s, the FAMAS (Fusil d'Assaut de la Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Etienne) met the desire for an all-purpose, capable and powerful tactical weapon, small in size but also easy to operate and maintain. The first version of the FAMAS, called the F1, sold more than 400,000 units in France and in some other countries like Senegal and the UAE and was sometimes given to allied countries for their armies to use. Some time down the line, GIAT Industries then produced a G1 variant that served as a transition to the new G2 variant. The latter of which complied with NATO standard STANAG 4719 and became the service weapon of the French Navy.

Its design was way ahead of its time, but due to its complexity to maintain and its high cost of production (nearly twice that of an American-made COLT M16), it was not popular with allied NATO countries to adopt. Moreover the French staff had initially rejected request for export of the FAMAS to quickly satisfy the needs of the French Army as their NATO counterparts had already adopted more common weapon systems like the Belgian FN FAL or the Austrian Steyr AUG. Luckily for us Airsofters, Northeast Airsoft has deigned fit to gift us with the world's first functional GBB Airsoft FAMAS!

The FAMAS F1 GBB Airsoft rifle by Northeast Airsoft is the first-ever gas blowback FAMAS rifle that has ever been put into production with a near-perfect replication of the original F1 variant of the FAMAS. As a matter of fact, it is the first ever GBB French gun ever produced! The first ever Airsoft FAMAS was made by the venerable Tokyo Marui in AEG form way back in 1993 and since then only cheap chinese copies of the Tokyo Marui FAMAS AEG were ever put out on the market, that is until today! Externally, the gun is built with a mix of metal and plastic like high-quality aluminum alloy, steel, and a very durable nylon fiber polymer composite which is similar to the type of plastic found on the real-steel FAMAS. The combination of the said materials gives the Northeast FAMAS F1 an authentic and realistic feel and look. Internally, nearly all the parts are made of steel, giving the gun all the more "oomph". The trigger assembly, fire control group, bolt assembly are made of steel, further ensuring a high level of durability and reliability. The bolt is designed to be full travel but comes pre-installed with a short stroked system that is user removable. The Northeast FAMAS F1 also features a cool, fully functional grenade launcher sight which would come in handy when Northeast releases a grenade launcher attachment for the gun. The gun also features a fully adjustable hop-up system which can be found in the chamber of the rifle. 2 bipods are mounted to the front of the gun and are also user removable.?

Shooting the Northeast FAMAS feels like a dream come true with its unique shooting mechanism, especially with the bipods deployed. The gun shoots incredibly accurately due to it having a Maple Leaf Crazy Jet inner barrel installed. At 30 meters, we were able to hit a paper-sized target on a three-round burst with all 3 rounds hitting consistently. The controls were a bit funky to operate but it is to be expected as it is the 1st generation FAMAS and is nothing that cannot be remedied by getting proficient with training and constant usage. Its 25-round magazine adds more to the gun's authenticity down to having 1 round left after doing a full mag-dump of 3-round bursts. Overall the Northeast FAMAS F1 GBB Airsoft rifle is a great gun that is flexible for different Airsoft combat applications, its small profile allows it to be proficient with CQB, its bullpup design allows for a longer barrel for more accuracy, and its build material allows for a lighter overall package.
