In 1991, a new era dawned at the Izhmash factory in Izhevsk as they embarked on a full-scale production of the modernized AK-74M assault rifle, just in time for the first Chechen War. This revamped variant of the classic AK-74 offered heightened versatility over its predecessor. Among its enhancements was a lighter bolt carrier assembly, curbing the gas piston and bolt carrier impulse during firing. Noteworthy was the introduction of a glass-filled polyamide stock, which was considered cutting-edge at that time, reminiscent of the classic AK-74 fixed laminated wood stock version, but with a unique side-folding mechanism akin to the skeletal AKS-74 buttstock, which may be too painful to place your cheek on during the harsh Russian winter.

Enter CYMA's Platinum AK series! CYMA AKs are highly praised for their build quality, reliability, and affordability. For the price point, this AK is mostly made of steel, with the exception of the obvious polymer furniture like the handguard, buttstock, and grip. It is built really solidly and can take a beating similar to the actual AK rifles. The CYMA Platinum Series AK74M AEG is a folding stock, modernized variant of the AK74, which is still in limited service in the Russian Armed Forces. It was developed during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan for Soviet troops. This CYMA AK74M is a faithful replica of the Soviet service rifle, featuring the exact same external design of the standard issue rifle of that time. The gun comes with a 150-round mid-capacity AEG magazine as well as a front sight adjustment tool.

The CYMA Platinum AK74M boasts a whole host of pre-upgraded internals. Out of the box, you get an EShooter ETU that allows for switching between SEMI/AUTO functions to new firing modes like Binary and Burst, through simple trigger-based programming, along with pre-cocking adjustment. The Platinum Series also features an active brake and protection system against blockages and battery levels, which ensures prolonged, trouble-free use. Other than that, this AK AEG also has a steel-teeth 13:1 ratio gear set, 8mm ball bearings, an aluminum ball bearing piston head, a double-sealed cylinder head, a bearing spring guide, and a high-speed motor. All of this allows the gun to hit a stable 25 RPS, which is very respectable for a budget AK AEG out of the box.
