This product is only compatible with gas designed specifically for Airsoft guns. Do not use lighter fluid or butane gas, as that will cause permanent damage.
The SIG MCX is a family of firearms designed and manufactured by SIG Sauer, produced in both selective fire and semi-automatic only models, and features a short-stroke gas piston system, which is inherited from the earlier SIG MPX submachine gun. The MCX is available in rifle, carbine, short-barreled rifle, and pistol configurations (the latter configuration generally conforming to the definition of a compact carbine but for taking a pistol brace rather than a buttstock).
The SIG MCX-SPEAR LT is the third generation of the SIG MCX, rolled out in 2022. With the release of the MCX-SPEAR LT, SIG also designed a new, padded, side-folding stock with an FDE finish option to match the rifles, which civilian versions of the rifle variant are sold with. While the civilian version is referred to as the "MCX-SPEAR LT", referencing the SPEAR from which it derives many of its improvements over the MCX Virtus line, SIG Sauer refers to the military versions as simply the "MCX LT" or "MCX Lightweight".
The defining features of the MCX-SPEAR LT are a lightened handguard and barrel design (borrowed from the MCX-SPEAR), an ambidextrous bolt catch and release, a proprietary SL muzzle device to allow for the use of SIG SAUER's quick-detaching SLX and SLH suppressors, a custom 28-round AR-pattern magazine when chambered in 7.62?39mm cartridge, and a coyote brown coating (black options are still available for purchase).
The MCX-SPEAR LT is available in 5.56?45mm NATO, .300 Blackout, and 7.62?39mm calibers. The civilian model features an 11.5-inch (290 mm) or 16-inch (410 mm) barrel and a Picatinny rail tail interface for attaching either a buttstock or a pistol brace. The military model features both of these options, with the addition of 14.5-inch (370 mm) and 9-inch (230 mm) barrels, as well as a custom two-stage match-grade select-fire trigger group.
The MCX and its newer variants are currently in use by the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and by the U.S. Army branches.
The APFG SPEAR LT GBB Airsoft rifle series is a high-quality replica of the aforementioned MCX Spear LT, albeit without trademarks, which is a shame. However, the overall construction and build quality is nothing to scoff at. The rifle is primarily made using CNC-machined aluminum, giving it a strong yet lightweight, durable build. The SPEAR LT features all the same fire controls as one would expect, with the charging handle, bolt catch, fire selector, and magazine release being ambidextrous compared to the older VIRTUS series. The SPEAR LT comes with a full-length Picatinny rail up top for mounting optics and accessories, and is outfitted with the SPEAR-series M-LOK handguard for complete modularity. The fire control group is made of steel, while the bolt is made using aluminum but is reinforced with steel at high-stress points like the bolt catch ledge for added durability. It is compatible with VFC M4/AR V2/V3 green gas magazines, and comes with one 30-round green gas magazine out of the box. The SPEAR LT also comes with a high-quality replica of the MCX Minimalist Plus side-folding stock, allowing the user to easily transport the gun to and from Airsoft venues.
Shooting the gun feels really good, with the bolt cycling being snappy and pronounced with every shot. The trigger pull is very crisp, and the reset is very reactive, allowing for fast and accurate follow-up shots on semi-auto. The fire selector is nice to actuate, and you can really feel the recoil impulse when shooting full-auto. Overall, a great gun to have if you don't mind not having markings, which honestly is a much-needed detail to have for aesthetics.
