VFC MAXIM Defense MDX-510 Airsoft AEG Rifle (Black, Build-in GATE ASTER)

Known for their accessories, MAXIM Defense introduced their inaugural PDX series in 2019, available in .300 BLK, 5.56mm, and 7.62x39mm calibers. The PDX series started the USSOCOM personal defense weapon selection program. MAXIM Defense aimed to minimize the size while maintaining maximum capability with full-sized intermediate cartridges. They entered the program with the PDX, which was shorter and lighter than the Honey Badger. Ultimately, the PDX was not selected by SOCOM, so MAXIM exhibited the civilian version of the PDX at the 2019 SHOT show, with Chris Parendo, author of "13 Hours", explaining and demonstrating the PDX at the range. The PDX was also voted the best of the 2019 SHOT show by RECOIL magazine. In response to the Army Expeditionary Warrior experiment, the MDX series, which is closer in size to standard carbines and rifles, was exhibited at the 2020 SHOT show, which the PDX later became synonymous with, and was given the name MDX-505, but MAXIM still uses the PDX name interchangeably as the official product name.

The MDX is a carbine/rifle version of the PDX, with the addition of a longer CQB stock that can use the standard bolt carrier as an option, and the use of the BCM GFG Mod 0 grip. The rest of the parts are the same as the PDX.

In collaboration with VFC, MAXIM Defense has brought this rifle to the Airsoft community as an AEG rifle, mirroring the design aesthetics of its real-steel counterpart. With licensed trademarks and rollmarks specific to this model, it includes furniture accessories from MAXIM to enhance its visual appeal, such as the MDX 510 PDW stock, free-floating MDX M-LOK handguard, and the steel HATEBRAKE muzzle brake device. The flared magwell is equipped with a textured surface that provides an alternative grip position, complemented by an ambidextrous magazine release and charging handle for convenient reloading with either hand.

At its core, it uses VFC's ECS Type 2 Gearbox and comes equipped with a GATE Aster ETU. The GATE ASTER features programmable electronics, like a trigger proximity sensor that allows you to fine-tune 250 trigger sensitivity settings, a binary trigger function as a basic setup, an optical gear cam sensor that supports all types of gears, and allows you to program the gun's firing mode from semi/full auto to semi/burst, for example. It is T-Plug (Deans) ready and can utilize the stronger 11.1v Li-Poly Battery for a more reactive performance.

Overall, the VFC MAXIM Defense MDX 510 is an excellent option for fans of the MAXIM aesthetic, as its lightweight design facilitates easy handling and high maneuverability in confined spaces. Additionally, the capability to shoulder this platform enhances the rifle's accuracy. Coupled with the GATE Aster, it provides shooters with the advantage of extended use and high performance with 11.1v Li-Po during prolonged skirmishes or competitive play, particularly benefiting aggressive players who rush quickly on the field.
