VFC's Third in their AK-Lineup, the AK-105

The AK-105 is a short-barreled, carbine version of the AK-74M rifle, originally developed to replace the shorter-barreled AKS-74U. The AK105 is chambered in the same 5.45x39mm cartridge and is used domestically by the Russian Army, in contrast to other AK-100 series rifles. Just like the AK74M, the carbine is produced at Izhmash factories in Izhevsk, Russia, and is part of the AK-100 family.

Compared to the AK-74M, AK-101, and AK-103, which are full-length assault rifles of similar design, the AK-105 is a carbine rifle featuring a shorter 12.4" (310mm) intermediate barrel length, and a solid, side-folding polymer stock allowing convenience in transportation or paratrooper operations, while still providing a stable firing platform when extended; the AK-105 retains the ability to fire with the stock folded.

The AK105 has matching polymer furniture, including a pistol grip, magazines, and a forward handguard. As mentioned before, it was developed to replace the even shorter compact AKS-74U, which featured a shorter skeleton stock and a shorter 8.1" (210mm) compact barrel. The AK105 uses an adjustable, U-notch, rear tangent sight, calibrated in 100m (109yd) increments out to 500m (547yd). The front sight is a post, adjustable for elevation in the field, while windage adjustments are made before being issued by the armory.

This will be VFC's third entry into their GBB AK line-up. Like all the previous entries, the VFC AK105 (AV105) features a tough full-steel construction with parts like the receiver assembly made using stamped steel, which is very rigid and durable without the extra bulk like that of a billet-made receiver. It is also topped off with a simulated surface treatment, which gives the AK105 a nice, grainy finish like the real gun. You can also expect that the engravings and markings on the VFC AK-105 are all there and are highly detailed and period-correct. What is also really cool is that the external gun assembly is the same dimensions and size as a real AK-105, which means that real AK furniture and accessories will fit on this rifle with little to no problems! The handguard, buttstock, and pistol grip are made of tough glass-filled polymer, which helps shave off further weight overall. On the left side of the receiver is an AK dovetail mount, which can seat additional rails or optics and is fully compatible with Warsaw Pact-style optics like the KOBRA red dot or the Russian PK-A.

Internally, the VFC AK-105 boasts the same level of quality when it comes to the internal components and structure. Featuring a CNC-machined steel bolt carrier, simulated bolt, and long-stroke piston assembly, the bolt carrier group is built to be incredibly durable and robust. Its cylinder assembly has been beefed up with an enlarged 22mm cylinder, which naturally results in a much stronger kick and recoil impulse compared to other brands of GBB AKs on the market. The gun also features an adjustable bolt travel setting, which allows the user to set the gun up to either have a long-stroke full travel cyclic action, allowing the bolt to travel fully to the rear like a real AK, or a short-stroke half travel cyclic action, which allows only half the travel distance for a faster rate of fire. Next, the fire control group is also a full steel construction for additional durability and is equipped with a realistic braided wire hammer spring, as seen in a real AK FCG. The AV105 also comes equipped with a fully adjustable hop-up unit, which has an easy-to-disassemble design. The hop-up bucking and inner barrel are all standard VSR-spec, making it incredibly easy to upgrade with existing aftermarket buckings and inner barrels.

The AV105 comes paired with VFC's 5.45x39mm-style AK gas magazine. The outer shell of the magazine is made using the same glass-filled polymer found on the stock and handguard, while the core of the magazine is machined using lightweight aluminum alloy, making the overall magazine unit extremely lightweight. It holds a maximum round capacity of 42 and boasts a 107cc gas capacity, which is the largest compared to other AK gas magazines on the market! The magazine also comes equipped with a "dry fire" mode, which allows the shooter to experience shooting the gun safely without having to load ammunition.

Overall, the VFC AV-105 or AK-105 GBB Airsoft rifle will definitely breathe more life into a waning AK GBB market. With its high-quality build construction to its fantastic shooting performance, it will be another great addition to any gun collector's arsenal and will definitely perform reliably like a real AK when out skirmishing.
