Umarex Lightning Series HK416D GBB Airsoft Rifle - Black (by CGS)

The HK416, developed at the request of Larry Vickers, a former US Army Delta Force operative and consultant for Heckler & Kochs R&D, represents a significant enhancement of the M4 and M16 platforms. This rifle is distinguished by its short-stroke gas-piston system, which is derived from the G36 platform. The result was the HK416D, a rifle designed for both the US military and commercial markets, which gained popularity among certain segments of the USSOCOM community and law enforcement agencies in the early 2000s, playing a notable role in the operation that led to the elimination of Osama Bin Laden. The gas-piston system of the HK416D improved reliability and reduced fouling during extended use in challenging environments worldwide. Subsequently, the rifle saw widespread adoption by the Norwegian armed forces and the US Marines, where it was designated the M27 IAR, and it has been utilised by elite units globally.

The HK416D is a collaboration between Heckler & Koch and CYMA CGS, and is a licensed product from Umarex (Elite Force). This gas blowback rifle system faithfully replicates its real-steel counterpart, featuring the same trademarks, licensing, and rollmarks from H&K. As part of the Lightning series, CGS has engineered this lightweight yet durable platform, delivering a high-quality rifle with robust internals. The Lightning Rifles incorporate a cutting-edge solution from CYMA, utilising an aluminum receiver, outer barrel, buffer tube, and handguard to minimize weight, complemented by a lightweight aluminum bolt carrier group and polymer piston that enable a high cyclic rate of fire of 18 rounds per second. The design reinforces critical components with steel, including the fire control group, castle nut, forward assist, receiver end plate, and takedown pin, ensuring a durable and lasting platform.

From an aesthetic perspective, the rifle features a 10-inch outer barrel with 14mm CCW threading for attaching muzzle devices and tracer units, along with a factory H&K 416 RIS quad Picatinny rail interface handguard for mounting optics and other accessories. The receiver is adorned with licensed trademarks and rollmarks for the HK416D, and includes a straight magwell design and standard fire controls for right-handed shooters, offering Safe, Semi, and Auto fire selection modes. The pistol grip is designed to accommodate a 12g CO2 capsule and a 18650 battery or two CR123A batteries, along with a functional jam enhancer. At the rear, a six-position buffer tube allows the shooter to adjust the stock position for optimal comfort. As the D variant, it comes equipped with the factory E1 stock, an ergonomic design that enhances the shooter?s firing position and includes multiple sling slots for attaching a sling. The stock also provides convenient storage for batteries or CO2 capsules.

At its core, the 416 employs the MWS ZET-inspired system, with commonly worn components constructed from steel to enhance durability and longevity. This design choice prolongs the rifle's reliability over time, with critical components such as the fire control group, forward assist, trigger pin, and takedown pin made from steel. Additionally, CYMA has integrated a user-friendly quick-release hop-up chamber system from T8 SP Systems, allowing for easy removal of the hop-up chamber to change the hop-up rubber and inner barrel without needing to detach the barrel nut. The fire control system of the 416D offers safe, semi, and full-auto fire modes, featuring a curved trigger that provides minimal travel and a satisfyingly crisp break when pulled. Furthermore, these Lightning HK416 GBB rifles are HPA ready right out of the box, as CYMA includes their unique CGS Tokyo Marui MWS Gas Magazine, which allows for quick swapping of the 30-round magazine feed tube and features an optional inlet port for installing an HPA line without requiring modifications.
