Tanaka SIG P226 Early Type Evolution 2 ALL Heavy Weight Model Gun

The SIG Sauer P226 is a full-sized service pistol made by SIG Sauer. This model is available in four chamberings: the 9?19mm Parabellum, .40 S&W, .357 SIG, or .22 Long Rifle. It has the same mechanism of operation as the SIG Sauer P220, but is developed to use higher capacity, double stack magazines in place of the single stack magazines of the P220. The inception of the P226 stemmed from its participation in the XM9 Service Pistol Trials conducted by the US Army in 1984 under the Joint Service Small Arms Program. This initiative aimed to identify a successor to the M1911A1 and other handguns in service across the US Armed Forces. Out of the multitude of contenders, only the Beretta 92SBF and the SIG P226 emerged as the successful candidates following rigorous evaluation.

Despite the P226's cost-effectiveness on a per-pistol basis compared to the Beretta 92F, the latter clinched the M9 contract due to a more economical overall package price, as revealed in a GAO report. While the SIG P226 boasted a lower individual pistol cost, the inclusive price of SIG's offering, encompassing magazines and spare parts, exceeded that of Beretta's solution.

Interestingly, the Navy SEALs diverged from the M9 contract decision, opting to adopt the P226 as their chosen sidearm, specifically the P226 MK25 variant, renowned for its specialized corrosion-resistant features.
