The EPL utilizes 6061-T6 aluminum construction that's Type-III hard coat anodized for durability. All included hardware is black nitride plated for corrosion resistance, and the tail cap is made from impact-resistant injection molded polymer. Additionally, the EPL incorporates the same impact-resistant lens as the Cloud Defensive MCH handheld, further enhancing its performance. When creating the EPL, Cloud Defensive looked at what was lacking in the pistol light market. Until now, you had to choose between high-lumen and low-candela offerings or high-candela and low-lumens offerings. That did not sit well with the folks at Cloud Defensive and in typical Cloud Defensive fashion, they set to combine ALL factors when creating a pistol light meant for real-world applications at real-world pistol distances. At 1,200 lumens, the EPL is impressively bright, creating a massive amount of spill that fills a room corner to corner with light to maintain situational awareness. On the other end of the spectrum, 52,000 candela allows one to punch through photonic barriers such as smoke, window tint, and other light sources with ease. Combine that with Cloud Defensive's large and purpose-driven "hot spot", and you have the recipe for a pistol light that excels in every aspect.

The Toggles are also an important topic of discussion. The EPL features an ergonomic and intuitive forward-push activation method, allowing you to maintain your shooting grip while activating or deactivating your light using a "thumbs forward" motion, or with your trigger finger outside of the trigger guard. Additionally, the toggles are ambidextrous and come in two different sizes for customization.

The EPL Duty is designed for Button-Top protected 18350-C batteries to ensure peak reliability and performance. Battery changes can be made through the front of the light by simply unscrewing the head. No need to remove the light from your pistol. (Fully Tested to ANSI/PLATO-FL1 Standards)

From the start, Cloud Defensive designed the EPL to be compatible with all popular duty-style holsters such as the Safariland 6000 and 7000 series, LAS Concealment, Aliengear, Bladetech, and more. In most cases, the EPL will fit right into all X300 and TLR-1 style light-bearing duty holsters. Included in the package are two sets or toggles (short and extended) that allow you to customize the EPL to your hand size and application. You can also mix and match based on your needs. For example, you can use the extended toggle for your dominant hand and a short toggle for your support hand, or vice versa. Additionally, three recoil lugs: Picatinny, Glock, and SIG are included in every package to ensure a precise and secure fit on your preferred pistol platform.
