It's a fake screw

It's the stupidest part of the m17/m18, a plastic fake screw which easily breaks if you're not careful, and is purely cosmetic. I broke mine removing the BBU from my x-carry, so I used this to replace it as having an empty hole on the back of the slide looked stupid to me. Installation was a huge pain as it didn't want to "hook" into the BBU, but once its in, its in.
