IMI MINI UZI
The Uzi submachine gun was created by Captain Uziel Gal of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in the aftermath of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. After submitting his design to the Israeli Army for evaluation, it stood out and won over more conventional designs due to its straightforward design and cost-effective production. Despite Gal's wish for the weapon not to bear his name, his request has been ignored, and the Uzi was officially adopted by the Israeli Army in 1951. It was first issued to IDF special forces in 1954, with general deployment in 1956. Fast forward a few decades, after a change in the doctrine of conventional warfare, the Mini Uzi was created in the 1980s as a more compact and lighter variant of the original Uzi submachine gun.
The Northeast Mini UZI Gas Airsoft SMG is Northeast's next iteration for their ongoing UZI GBB lineup. A faithful replica of the IMI Mini Uzi, this replica (like the original MP2 UZI by Northeast) has been replicated to a T in all its Airsoft gas blowback glory! A majority of the gun's build is made of steel, with the upper and lower receiver made using the same stamped steel method as the real deal. The gun has been powder-coated to a nice glossy finish, while the grip panels and handguard are made of high-quality composite polymer, just like the real gun. The gun has features that are almost exactly the same as the real Mini Uzi; the bolt and charging handle will stay in place when the bolt is not completely charged back. The fire selector cannot be put to safe until the bolt has been completely cocked and locked to the rear. The only thing that is not realistic about this replica is that it is an Airsoft gun that fires 6mm BBs.
The Northeast Mini Uzi GBB SMG uses the same magazine system as the full-size Northeast UZI/MP2, which features a dry firing mode. To activate dry firing mode, simply just toggle the switch on the top portion of the magazine to activate either dry-fire mode or back to last round cut-off, which is a great feature to have for some of us who want to dry fire the gun at home. It is also a great feature to have for filming purposes, enabling this high-quality replica to be a viable movie/video prop.
Aesthetically, the gun features correct Israeli IMI roll marks and 9mm caliber markings, with the fire controls marked A, R, and S; A for automatic, R for repetition (semi-auto), and S for safe.
Shooting the gun feels phenomenal, with the recoil impulse being a vast improvement over the original full-size Uzi by Northeast. The rate of fire of the Mini Uzi is staggeringly fast, closely mimicking the real-steel version of 900+ RPM. The firing cycle is snappy and sharp in both semi and full-auto. This is definitely a piece to get for collectors and Uzi enthusiasts!
