The M14 rifle is an American selective fire battle rifle that fires 7.62×51mm NATO ammunition. Designed to replace the M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, M3 Grease gun and M1918 BAR, the M14 was adopted as the standard-issue rifle for the U.S. military in 1959. However, it quickly became apparent that the M14 was unable to serve the role of a standard service rifle against newer faster firing assault rifles like the AK47 resulting in its replacement by the M16 in 1967. However, the M14 found a new lease on life in a marksman role where the rifle and its variants continue to serve to this day. There are a variety of M14 airsoft guns available on the market and the Airsoft M14 has become a popular niche airsoft gun to use, budget versions such as the CYMA Airsoft M14 EBR AEG Enhanced Battle Rifle are common as is the Tokyo Marui Airsoft M14 AEG Rifle. For more higher end players there is also the G&G GR14 IWS (Airsoft M14) ETU AEG and the G&P Airsoft M14 DMR AEG Sniper to fulfil your DMR needs.

The M14 airsoft rifle replicates the real-steel M14 rifle that served in the U.S. military for nearly a decade. This historical platform joins many others as airsoft replicas on the field, dominating skirmishes with sharpshooting capabilities.

Several airsoft gun manufacturers offer their versions of the M14 airsoft rifle, so players have plenty of platforms, accessories, and upgrades to choose from.

What Is an M14 Airsoft Rifle?

The U.S. military adopted the American M14 battle rifle in 1959 as the standard-issue rifle. This selective-fire rifle replaced the M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, M3 Grease Gun, and M1918 BAR. It was chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO and is capable of semi-auto, full-auto, and burst firing modes.

After engaging in fierce fire-fights with newer, faster-firing assault rifles like the AK47, the M14 was swiftly replaced by the M16 in 1967.

In retirement, the M14 found its place in the marksman or sharpshooter role (similar to the airsoft sniper rifle), where it and its variants remain today. It’s also strongly represented in airsoft among several manufacturers and might just be on your wishlist.

How To Choose an M14 Airsoft Rifle

The M14 airsoft rifle has quickly become popular on many airsoft fields. Available as an automatic electric gun (AEG) or gas blowback (GBB), the airsoft M14 comes in several forms.

Players can run polymer or full-metal tactical versions with sleek handguards, red dots or scopes, flashlights, bipods, suppressors, and other external accessories. For a more historical look, several manufacturers replicate the real wood stock coloring for authenticity.

How To Upgrade an M14 Airsoft Rifle

Available parts for the airsoft M14 rifle vary depending on the specific version you choose (AEG or GBB). For example, you can install a MOSFET, gearbox, bucking, scope mount, or upgraded lipo battery with a charger.

Below are a few of the upgrades you can choose from across both platforms:

Inner barrel upgrades can make your airsoft M14 more accurate and boost the results of any other upgrades you choose.
