AIRSOFT L85 | AIRSOFT SA80
The L85 or SA80 is a British family of 5.56×45mm NATO service weapons used by the British Army which replaced the L1A1 Self-Loading Rifle. Originally designed by RSAF Enfield and first produced in 1985 as the L85A1, the rifle’s initial service was marred by persistent reliability issues and design flaws earning its nickname amongst soldiers as the ‘Civil Servant’ as it didn’t work and could not be fired. The rifle underwent a major upgrade in the early 2000s by Heckler & Koch resulting in the vastly improved L85A2, fixing almost all of its predecessor’s reliability issues and further upgraded in 2018 into the L85A3. The airsoft SA80 has been a mainstay in the industry for decades with numerous models made over the years, for general purpose AEGs you have a choice of the ARES L85A3 Airsoft AEG Rifle - DE (EFCS Gearbox) and the G&G Airsoft SA80 ETU EBB, while players that want the ultimate realism of firing an airsoft SA80 would probably go for the WE Airsoft L85 A2 GBBR for its extremely realistic depiction of the L85’s operation.
