Airsoft MG42

The legendary Maschinengewehr 42 or MG42 (also nicknamed Hitler’s Buzzsaw) was a 7.92x57mm recoil-operated general-purpose machine gun manufactured and extensively used by German forces during the latter half of the Second World War. Designed to be low-cost and easy to build, the MG42 proved to be highly reliable and easy to operate with its very high rate of fire of 1,200 rounds per minute.  This was whoppingly double that of other machine guns at the time, giving the German military a huge competitive advantage on the field. However, even after Germany’s defeat in WW2, the MG42 remained in service with modernized variants like the rechambered MG3 being adopted by over 30 countries.  The MG3 continues to be a popular machine gun today.

Naturally, the legendary popularity of the MG42 in popular culture means that the MG42 airsoft gun is one of the most sought-after ww2 airsoft guns on the market. Several manufacturers have released the airsoft MG42 over the years, including the A&K MG42 AEG airsoft LMG and the AGM MG42 airsoft gun, which unfortunately are not available any longer.  The MG42 airsoft gun is currently available only in two rather high end collectible grade models in the form of AEG MG42 guns; the G&G MG42 Airsoft Machine Gun and the SHOEI MG42 EBB. Both of these airsoft MG42s have an airsoft MG42 drum mag to deliver a huge volume of BBs to the target for the best airsoft WW2 roleplay.  Read our airsoft MG42 review for the G&G G-MG42 Machine Gun AEG and the Airsoft MG42 review of the SHOEI MG-42 EBB.
