If there’s an airsoft M203 grenade launcher on your airsoft field during gameplay, you’ll know it pretty quickly. This grenade launcher brings the fun of grenades to the field, sporting compatibility with 40mm gas grenade shells and promising loads of fun.

RedWolf stocks only the best airsoft M203 grenade launchers that are sure to turn your next game into a BB-flying frenzy.

What Is an Airsoft M203?

An airsoft M203 grenade launcher is a must-have for any airsoft arsenal. This critical tactical accessory fits on the bottom of an M4-style airsoft rifle handguard (where you might also mount flashlights) and allows you to launch multiple types of 40mm airsoft grenades.

However, to understand more about the airsoft M203, it’s best to look at the real-steel version.

Aircraft Armaments Inc. (AAI) designed the single-shot M203 grenade launcher, but Colt ultimately won the contract to produce it. This military-grade grenade launcher can fire multiple types of rounds, from smoke and non-lethal to tear gas.

The M203 comes in several versions, including the following:

  • M203: Designed for use with the M16
  • M203A1: Pairs with the M4
  • M203A2: Compatible with either the M4 or the M16A4

Barrel lengths range from nine inches to 22 inches, and the M203 has an effective range of 350 meters. You can typically pick out the M203 based on its shotgun-like forend and squat footprint.

The M203 has also appeared in several films, including Death Wish 4, Missing in Action, Predator 2, The Rock, and so many more.

How Does an Airsoft M203 Grenade Launcher Work?

As an under-barrel accessory, the airsoft M203 works similarly to the real-steel version. The sliding breech opens to accept the 40mm shell, and a single pull of the trigger shoots the shell down range.

Although the airsoft M203 requires airsoft grenade shells that use gas and may be referred to as a gas grenade launcher, it’s not a gas blowback (GBB) system.

Players can use the M203 to effectively clear a room during close-quarters battle (CQB) skirmishes, but who honestly needs a reason to attach one of these to their airsoft rifle?

What Are Some Popular Airsoft M203 Grenade Launcher Models?

Well-known names in the industry — including Classic Army and King Arms — make their own versions of the airsoft M203 grenade launcher.

The Classic Army M203 Airsoft Grenade Launcher (Long Model Rail Mounted Type) offers players an affordable way to mount a grenade launcher on their airsoft rifle, and the same can be said for the King Arms M203 Shorty

In addition, the full-metal G&P M203 Military Type Grenade Launcher (Long) also makes for a viable option, along with the following G&P grenade launchers in various sizes that don’t require adapters:

Players looking for more of a military-style airsoft M203 grenade launcher should check out the G&P Military Type M203 Grenade Launcher (Short). If you don’t have enough room on your Picatinny rail system for even a short airsoft M203 grenade launcher, the sub-four-inch Action Army Rail-Mounted Airsoft Launcher can still fire 40mm shells from its tiny footprint.

You can also find other grenade launchers at RedWolf, including a few standalone tan versions from VFC and ICS.

RedWolf stocks everything you need to dominate a day at the airsoft field, from gearboxes and chest rigs to slings. Here, you’ll find multiple types of airsoft gas — including green gas — ammo, inner barrels, vests, pouches, outer barrels, hop-ups, buckings, nozzles, and other products on your wishlist.

If it’s a new airsoft AEG, sniper rifle, airsoft SMG, airsoft pistol (like Glock, Sig, or Tokyo Marui Hi-Capas), or other type of airsoft gun you’re looking for, RedWolf is your go-to source for all things airsoft.
