The Colt M45A1 CQBP

In 2012, the Marine Corps awarded Colt a contract for up to 12,000 M45A1 pistols with an initial order of 4000 plus pistols. The Marine Corps issued the M45A1 to Force Reconnaissance companies, MARSOC, and Special Reaction Teams from the Provost Marshal's Office. The improved M45A1 CQBP features several changes to the original M1911A1 design, with one features being an upgraded dual recoil spring system that spreads out the recoil force of the .45 ACP round by lowering the peak force of the recoil impulse. It also has a 3-dot tritium night sights, a 5-inch national match barrel, ambidextrous safety, picatinny rail, and a desert tan Cerakote finish.

The current M45A1 does not have a ?USMC? rollmark on the slide for either Military or Civilian sales. Marine HQ requested Colt to stop marking the pistols as such. All M45A1s are currently marked ?COLT***M45A1? and have a darker, flat dark earth Ion Bond type finish referred to by Colt as ?Decobond?. While not as corrosion-resistant, it is a far more durable finish.

The EMG Cybergun Colt Licensed M45A1 GBB Airsoft pistol by Army Armament is a quality replica of the aforementioned pistol, featuring a near 1:1 ratio in terms of size. It is a full metal construction and topped off with a durable Tan finish that closely mimics the color of the real-steel M45A1. The EMG Cybergun M45A1 features pre-upgraded parts from T8, with the hammer group assembly, like the hammer/strut, sear, and disconnector made out of steel, and a T8 70-degree hop-up bucking that allows for consistent hop-up with heavier BBs. The pistol is powered by Green gas and comes with a 26 round green gas magazine out of the box.

As one would expect from an Army Armament gun, the recoil impulse is stout yet snappy with a respectable cyclic rate. The trigger pull has some slack but breaks clean when pulling past the wall, making shooting accurate and consistent. As this gun is based on the Tokyo Marui 1911 GBB system, you are able to upgrade and tune the pistol with a plethora of aftermarket parts for the TM 1911 and some Hi Capa parts.

Overall, a great gun to add to your arsenal if you are looking to run a unique 1911-style pistol that is full metal and pre-upgraded with steel parts out of the box.
