The United States Navy Mark 14 Enhanced Battle Rifle (EBR) is an American selective fire military rifle chambered for the 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge. It is a variant of the classic M14 battle rifle and was originally built for use with units of the United States Naval Special Warfare Command, such as the United States Navy SEALs. The EBRs are made with the intention of carrying out both designated marksman and CQB roles in combat. Since 2010, the U.S. Army has made available two EBRs per infantry squad for units deploying to Afghanistan.
WE EBR is of course their own gas blowback M14 rifle with an EBR kit thrown on in place of the standard body. The first thing grabs your attention is how HEAVY this gun is!
At about 5kg / 11lbs it is not too unmanageable but it is certainly heftier then most rifles on the field. At 104 cm / 41 inches it is not small, folding down to 139cm / 35 inches with stock collapsed to make transport a tad more compact affair.
The WE M14 may not have as much recoil as the real deal but rest assured, it is there, as the bolt slams back and fourth with each shot the gun gives a reassuring kick as the mechanism cycles to cock the hammer and load the next round into the chamber. The Recoil is helped by the fact that this gun's receiver is all metal and the fact that its sits in a metal kit means that the sound of metal on metal in metal is fantastic. This platform has to be one of the hardest kicking Airsoft kits around.
The system adds more accessory rails then you probably know what to do with. Partial side rails and a full length top rail, the bottom also has a rail with is partial as is but the hand grip panel is removable if you want to forgo comfort to gain access to the full length lower rail for whatever reason. The kit is a CNC Aluminium body which goes some length in explaining both weight and cost, the quality being simply sublime and rocking more durability then a majority of bodies out there.
Airsoft Surgeon took inspiration from the latest generation of computer games; he has added the telescopic scope and mount, YZH Type 3 bipod and a range plate on the magazine. With access to a vast range of RA Tech parts and much more, the Airsoft Surgeon went to town with internal modification to ensure top notch performance and high reliability.
The stock is telescopically adjustable for length and the cheek rest is adjustable for height. The weapon does have rear and front sling mount rings should you want to strap this beast up to make transporting it a tad easier. The weapon has built in iron sights which are good enough but you can always throw on an aftermarket scope of your own choosing (not included) and a weapon like this is begging for one anyway.
The older style body is cast aside to embrace the contemporary with this modern tactical metal system. All in all, the aesthetics of the gun leave little to be desired as even the fake wooden stock is realistic in the way it is made of a more modern material for a more modern era.
