The Intratec TEC-9 is a line of blowback-operated semi-automatic pistols developed by Intratec. First introduced in 1984, the TEC-9 was made of inexpensive molded polymers and a mixture of stamped and milled steel parts making it easy to repair and modify. However this resulted in the TEC-9 developing a negative reputation for its association with organized crime, street gangs and mass shootings resulting in Intratec developing the KG-9 to make it harder to convert to a fully automatic weapon. The airsoft Tec 9 has a rarity that is at odds with its cultural impact with only RWA making a Tec 9 airsoft gun in the form of the RWA KG 9 Airsoft AEG SMG. In the past there was also a Tec 9 airsoft gun made by Maruzen, this tec 9 airsoft gun was a GBB giving unprecedented realism but has unfortunately been discontinued.
