KSG

AIRSOFT KSG

The Kel-Tec KSG is a bullpup 12-gauge pump-action shotgun designed by Kel-Tec. With a mostly polymer frame, the KSG’s most notable feature is its two tube magazines which the user of the gun can switch between manually. Each tube holds up to seven 12-gauge shotshells and the ability to switch between magazine tubes allows the user to seamlessly transition between different types of shot depending on the given situation. There is currently only one model of KSG which is the Tokyo Marui Airsoft KSG Gas Shotgun. Being powered by green gas allows for the airsoft KSG to have a realistic pump and firing action, the airsoft KSG does use the Tokyo Marui shot shell system where what it lacks in realism it does make up for in ease of use allowing for more convenient gameplay.

The Kel-Tec KSG shotgun is a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun well-known in the real-steel world. Tokyo Marui is the only airsoft manufacturer that makes the airsoft equivalent of the KSG bullpup shotgun.

Although it lacks some of the features found on the real KSG shotgun, the airsoft variant is a blast to run on the airsoft field.

What Is the Kel-Tec KSG Shotgun?

Introduced in 2011, the Kel-Tec KSG pump-action shotgun breaks the traditional shotgun mold as a bullpup shotgun variant. This tactical shotgun accepts three-inch 12-gauge shotgun shells, but its most iconic feature is the dual-tube design. A selector switch allows the user to choose which magazine tube to feed from, increasing the round capacity while maximizing the available real estate.

Indeed, the KSG shotgun holds either 6 + 6 + 1 or 7 + 7 + 1, depending on the shotshell length. Downward ejection of spent shells and the ambidextrous controls make operating this pump-action shotgun a breeze. The bullpup design favors self-defense like close-quarters combat (CQC) or home defense with a shorter overall length and compact footprint.

Several features make the KSG shotgun a go-to weapon for many shooters. The pistol grip allows for control while keeping the gun close, similar to a handgun. The Picatinny top rail starts about equal with the front of the trigger guard to keep your optics close, and though the barrel length may be long, it allows the tube magazines to fit snugly in place without looking bulky.

The real-steel KSG shotgun has appeared in movies like John Wick and Terminator Genisys, as well as several video games. This pump shotgun's dual-tube construction makes changing between ammo types simple, especially with so many shots available. Unfortunately, the airsoft equivalent of the KSG shotgun doesn’t retain this functionality, although the storage capacity remains.

How Does the Tokyo Marui KSG Airsoft Shotgun Work?

Only one manufacturer offers the KSG shotgun in the airsoft world: Tokyo Marui. The Tokyo Marui Airsoft KSG Gas Shotgun is a green gas airsoft platform with realistic specs, pump-action operation, and a polymer frame. The same Tokyo Marui build quality found on the KSG shotgun means good news for airsoft enthusiasts.

As a gas-powered airsoft shotgun, the TM KSG shotgun features a gas tank stored in the butt pad. These gas tanks are removable, and investing in a few can extend your gameplay if you plan on spending the entire day on the field. Installing the gas tank is as simple as removing the butt pad, aligning the tank with the opening, and firmly pressing it forward to prevent any gas from leaking.

Although the Tokyo Marui KSG 12-gauge shotgun has dual tubes like the real-steel version, only one is functional, making the selector switch more of a decorative touch than anything else. The tube on the right side of the gun (when looking down the barrel) feeds to three inner barrels, while the left side acts as a magazine or dummy tube.

You can load one shotshell into the right chamber, and the other tube is a nonfunctional dummy tube where you can store two shells. If you want to reduce loading time, consider a semi-automatic instead of a pump-action shotgun.

Each Tokyo Marui shotshell holds 30 BBs, and you can select between firing three or six BBs at a time. Although the safe and fire selector switch is stiff, Tokyo Marui fits the KSG shotgun with two front sling mounts, a textured forend, and flip-up iron sights. The Picatinny rail on the top and bottom are ready for your flashlight or red dot, but there’s no hop-up to worry about tuning.

If you’re ready to pull the trigger on the Tokyo Marui Airsoft KSG Gas Shotgun, place your order from RedWolf. While you’re there, add some green gas and a few of your favorite accessories to the cart, or peep other airsoft guns like a semi-auto. Whatever the case, make your next airsoft game one to remember with RedWolf Airsoft.
