The SIG Sauer P220 is a recoil operated semi-automatic pistol designed in 1975 by SIG Arms AG. Developed as the Swiss Army’s standard service pistol, the P220 is best known for its single/double action trigger and external decocker and is chambered in multiple calibers including 9x19mm Parabellum, 10mm Auto, .45 ACP and more. A novel design when first introduced, the P220 spawned multiple variants including the highly successful P226 and was adopted by over a dozen countries around the world. The airsoft P220 is not as widespread as the airsoft P226, however both airsoft and non firing models are popular amongst Japanese players as the P220 was adopted by the Japanese Self-Defense Forces in 1982. Examples of the airsoft P220 include the Tanaka Airsoft SIG P220 HW Japan Air Self Defense Force Green Gas Pistol (ABS) and the non firing Farsan 9910 P220 9mm Metal Model Gun - Black.
