Hephaestus is a Hong Kong company that originally specialized in customizing AK GBBs and in recent years they have been producing their own parts that will vastly improve the user friendliness of AKs, all of their parts were constructed with the most durable materials such a lightweight aluminium or steel.
The latest offering from Hephaestus is this rail system for standard AK AEG/ GBB series out there (except AKS74U, PP-19 series) that includes a railed gas tube and a keymod lower handguard. The rail system was constructed with CNC machined aluminium and hard-coat anodized with dark earth color.
The railed gas tube would provide a low platform for users to mount their choice of optics or laser designators. Smaller red dots like T1 / T2 style may have lower 1/3 co-witness with the original iron sights. The lower handguard would have keymod mounting system covering 3 sides for a variety of accessories. At only 265g in total this is definitely lighter than most standard rail systems out there.
