The Colt Single Action Army (also known as the SAA, Peacemaker, or M1873) is a single-action revolver handgun. Designed in 1872 by Colt's Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company and adopted as the standard-issued pistol of the US Army from 1873 until 1892 the SAA has been offered in over 30 difference calibers and various barrel lengths. A cultural icon, the SAA was nicknamed the ‘Peacemaker’ and was popular with ranchers and outlaws alike during the heyday of the American Wild West and is regularly features in films and as a prized collector’s item as a result.
