The Type 90 is the current main battle tank of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. It was designed as a replacement for all deployed Type 61's and some of the Type 74 tanks. Manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, the development of the Type 90 was initiated in 1977, and eventually accepted for service in 1990. Despite being smaller than all of the Western main battle tanks, the Type 90 actually bears an uncannyresemblance to the German Leopard 2. It even comes equipped with the same Rheinmetall 120mm tank gun a the Germon Leopard. Powered by a two-stroke, 10 Cylinder Diesel Engine, which pumps out approximately 1500 horsepower - at 50 gross tons, the power-to-weight ratio is 30hp/tonne, allowing it to accelerate from nought to 200 metres in roughly 20 seconds.

Tokyo Marui's 1/24 scale replica of the Type 90 Tank is an authentic mode lof the real thing, made with immense attention to detail, as well as being a fully functional remote control tank. It is even capable of shooting 6mm BBs (only .12g BBs) out of the turret, which can be swivelled and tilted to aim at your target. This RC '90 has independent suspension on each wheel, making this tank take on obstacles with ease, able to climb over an assortment of objects in and around the house, whether it be books or small rocks, this Type 90 takes it on with no problems. It is powered by 8x AA batteries (in the tank) and a 9v battery for the remote controller, and there are three forward speeds and two turning speeds available. There is a trigger button on the underside to fire the BBs from the turret too. It comes finished in an ultra-realistic, high-quality paint finish, and a gunner figure to put on top of the tank. This Tokyo Marui Type 90 proves immensely enjoyable to use and play with, it is bound to be a hit this Holiday Season!
