The classic separation between the WA and WE AR systems has always been the bolt system, with the WAs greater realism versus the WEs better kick and power but then WE would be shown up with the pre-upgraded G&P WOC in which case WE became more an option of economy.
This is the case no longer.
The new Open Bolt system sports a bolt which cycles in and out of the breach freely somewhat like the WA system. Now when the bolt locks, the unobstructed view of the breech looks that much more realistic.
This compact weapon is all-metal so it's not exactly featherweight but it's still short and light enough to wield like a Personal Defense Weapon for which it is named and clocking in at 400 fps out of the box it is nothing to scoff at. This WE system does not compromise the recoil either, the bolt drawing deep from the gas well to cycle a nice solid kick. The cyclical rate is hardly monstrous but it is high and fairly realistic in nature; on semi it taps well, on full auto it is comfortably manageable to hold the 2 and 3 round bursts manually timed.
The folding stock, smaller pistol grip and over all smaller dimensions makes this piece really feel like a PDW in your hands, the long upper rail is but one of four railed sides and comes it different barrel lengths to suit different tastes. The dimpled pistol grip and ergo trigger guard, despite being all metal, is still appropriately designed for decent comfort yet maintaining metals inherent superior strength and resistance to wear and tear over time.
Whether you're looking specifically to sport a smaller primary weapon or are otherwise looking to compliment your sniper rifle or machine gun with something a little more agile and yet you want it all in some sexy GBB format then this is the gun for you!
One of the hottest releases this year, the WE PDW is the most awesome Gas Blowback Carbine released to date. Utilizing WE's tried and true gas blowback system, the PDW is compatible with both the standard WE M4 style magazines as well as the new WE PDW style magazines. The blowback features a very solid kick whilst the shorter barreled form of the PDW helps to amplify the sound of the bolt slamming back into battery!
